If you are an adult and suddenly begin seeing acne when you did not before, then that may actually signal hormone changes. Some women will get hormonal changes that are very dramatic, especially if they are pregnant. Visiting your doctor might be your best bet, especially if you have no idea why the acne has suddenly appeared. If you do have acne, your doctor may not know why until a few tests have been run. Therefore, since we are not smarter than the average doctor (we do not have a medical degree), we cannot say why it is happening either. Although this is rare, acne could actually be an indicator that something else is going on in your body.

Teenagers who have acne and it is not the most common form of teenage acne definitely need to see their doctor. You will receive a referral to a dermatologist who will be able to accurately diagnose your precise type of acne. If you do have severe acne, you may have to get the appropriate medications to deal with it. Stopping acne before it gets too bad is the best way to prevent severe scarring on your face which may occur. It is very tempting to squeeze the blemishes. However, if you do this, you may end up with scars, which is why your doctor will advise you to avoid squeezing them.

Regardless of the type of acne you have, avoid giving up on your skin and caring for it. Anyone that has cystic acne, or a bad case of it, can still remedy the situation. Always remember that your skin, for it to be healthy, needs to have oil in it. You just have to keep your skin clean. If you are not sure what is best, then a trip to your dermatologist will be well worth the price.
