Skin Care Cosmetics:Are They Useful Or Harmful?

Having both beautiful and healthy skin is a huge confidence booster. Some people are naturally beautiful and hence don't use any makeup at all although women generally like the idea of prepping up their look with makeup. Certainly there are individuals that don't use any makeup for the simple fact that they are too lazy to put on any makeup. Still some feel that cosmetics can harm their skin, and hence abandon the use of any sort of cosmetics. However, there are are still a large number of people who do use cosmetics and that is why the cosmetic industry is still prosperous.

So, are cosmetics useful or are they harmful? Although opinions seem to be divided on this, one thing we do know for certain; makeup is recognized as an excellent beauty enhancer and just about everyone wants to be beautiful. Of course too much makeup can surely be harmful (just like anything in excess can be harmful). So, what does one do?

Firstly, come up with a skin care routine that you can easily follow to aid your skin in staying healthy. It is recommended to cleanse and apply moisturizer daily and then tone and exfoliate on occasion .

The next thing to do would be to apply some makeup. Keep in mind that makeup could either be part of your skin care routine or be applied only on special occasions. One well known brand is the MAC makeup brand. You could also take some mac makeup training if you want to know how to properly apply makeup.

The most crucial thing with cosmetics is in selecting the right ones. Follow these rules to help you figure out what makeup to use:

* The general rule is to use products that suit your skin type. This includes both for using cosmetics and the products you use in your regular routine. Therefore, read the label to find out it if indicates.
* Test the makeup before using it. This can be done by applying it on a small patch of skin e.g. ear lobes and checking the reaction of your skin to the product.
* Check the ingredients of the cosmetics for chemicals that you are allergic to. Do not use products that are very harsh on your skin e.g. products with high alcohol concentrations; such cosmetics might work once but cause long-lasting damage to your skin.
* 'More isn't better'. Ensure that you apply the products in the right quantity (neither less not more). Also, be gentle with your skin and follow the right procedures for applying skin care products. Rubbing too hard or trying to squeeze a pimple can lead to permanent damage to your skin.
* Finally, if you have a skin disorder e.g. acne etc, you should consult your dermatologist before using any skin care cosmetics.
