Six Basic Strategies to Take Care of Our Cuticles During Wintertime

Easy methods to take good care of our cuticles during winter involve wearing mittens, keeping the fingernails short, applying moisturizers regularly, switching to moisturizing soap, putting on gloves when performing home tasks, and getting a moisturizing cuticle treatment.

The wintertime can cause us to have very dry skin through its cold and dry weather, along with the heating system in our homes and offices. Hence, during winter months, we must pay special focus on our skin care routine to protect our cuticles and keep them soft, supple and healthy.

Put on mittens

Whenever the temperature gets under 40 degrees Fahrenheit, your hands and everything about it is in danger. Shield your own hands and cuticles by putting on mittens. Gloves are normally worn, but they don't offer as much protection and advantages as mittens, since they separate every one of the fingers. Mittens keep all of the fingers together, and thus produce more heat to ensure that they're warm and protected from cold. Cold could damage the hands because it keeps the blood from effectively circulating. Hence, warmth is important to allow the blood in the hands to flow well and nourish all areas, like the cuticles.

Keep your own finger nails short

Fingernails need ongoing supply of nourishment to ensure that they're healthy. And the longer they're, the more nutrients they require from the body, particularly during the wintertime when the weather is much drier. Provide adequate portions of nutrients to the cuticles to ensure that they're healthy by trimming your finger nails short and keeping them that way. That way, the fingernails won't demand a lot of nutrients from the body, and your cuticles will be able to be supplied with nutrients which would otherwise have gone to those extra-long nails.

Utilize moisturizers regularly

During winter season, the climate can become very dry and trigger severe dryness in the skin. Hence, you should moisturize your hands and cuticles with deep treatment moisturizers regularly, particularly after every time you clean your own hands. And then, every evening before heading to bed, rub your hands utilizing oil, as well; paying special focus on the cuticles all over your finger nails. Use natural oils like avocado oil, almond oil or primrose oil. And only utilize a paper towel to wipe off any excess.

Switch to moisturizing soap

Switch your regular soap to a bar of moisturizing soap on winter season. Place a moisturizing soap on the sink, along with your shower so that you can continually moisturize your hands every time you clean them.

Put on gloves when performing household jobs

Water clears away the skin's natural moisture, particularly during prolonged exposure. Hence, you need to protect your hands and cuticles by wearing latex gloves every time you will be doing tasks which involve water. These chores involve washing the dishes, doing the laundry washing, or cleaning the restroom.

Obtain a moisturizing cuticle treatment

Give your cuticles a moisturizing cuticle treatment to stop the drying effects of the wintertime or to cure dryness which may already be present. Prepare a bowl with warm water in it. Don't apply very hot water, since this can actually lead to dryness as well. Soak one hand at one time for a couple minutes in the bowl of warm water to make the cuticle soft and very easy to push back. Then, remove your hand from the bowl; wring the extra water off it, and pat it on a dry towel. Then, use a drop of argan oil on every single cuticle and massage it to distribute the oil completely and make every area of the cuticles soak up the oil. What is argan oil can be seen when utilized appropriately.

Cure hangnails by having a bandage covered around your own fingers until these hangnails fall by themselves, rather than trimming or pulling them. And then, after every time you have a manicure treatment, you should also massage your cuticles to minimize hangnails from appearing.
